Click Here: A powerful prayer about Halloween
Should Christians celebrate Halloween…3 things you should know.
If you are reading this as a Believer in Jesus Christ this may be a simple unequivical, NO! From reading just one scripture in which the Bible tells us to, “Abstain from every form of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22.
The truth is that there are Christians who do indeed celebrate Halloween and various aspects of it. There is even a group of Christian Believers that find no issue with celebrating Halloween. If you are an unbeliever reading this post, thank you for sticking around and continuing to seek the truth you came here for.
The question, “Should Christians Celebrate Halloween?” is what we will address in this blog post.
1. Pray before you go any further reading.
2. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in truth as you read these words. Even if you have never asked before.
3. Share this blog post with someone by sharing the link via text, or on your social media.
4. And finally grab your Bible or Bible app. DO NOT READ THIS POST without your Bible. This is a post that flows with the Living Word.
I thought the prayer that I prayed and shared renouncing Christians celebrating Halloween was enough. The truth is I actually stopped and asked God, do we need to have yet another conversation on if Christians should celebrate Halloween?
After talking to God, it was made clear to me that, If Christians understood the dangers of celebrating this day they would not continue doing it.
That was all I needed to hear from God to move forward with this post.
But God revealed even more to me.
After hearing the same quote twice and I couldn’t recall ever hearing it before.
In the satanic bible., the leader of the church of satan wrote: “After one’s own birthday, the two major Satanic holidays are Walpurgisnacht (May 1st) and Halloween.” He also stated that he, “Loves it when Believers allow their children to worship the devil one day of the year.”
The leader of the satanic church has claimed Halloween. He also very plainly stated, that he loves Believers specifically allowing their children to worship the devil.
So yes, the celebration of Halloween among Christians requires a conversation beyond, we just shouldn’t celebrate it. There are still Christians, those who say they love Jesus, and those that want to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, who believe that it is okay to celebrate Halloween.
Although this post is being written to Christian Believers. to clarify we are speaking about Jesus Christ who died on the cross for our sins. I have been careful to write within the arms of the Holy Spirit and only type what has been given to me. God is not wishing that anyone perish. 2 peters 3:9
I’ve deleted, written, and deleted some more because if it sounds too much like my opinion that will not do. And I have immediately taken it out of the blog post when I wrote it or I did so in the editing process.
If you’re indeed a Christian that is celebrating Halloween in any part, you may have some of these top-of-mind questions. So before we jump into this blog post, I want to encourage you to do some things while reading this post. Not all the things but some to start you on a firm foundation for this blog post.
1. The origin of Halloween
Understanding the origin of Halloween in Christianity stayed top of mind as inclusive for this post/study. It gives some additional context, but it is not the most important message that God wants you to receive in reading this post/study, so it falls at #3 and lasts in the order of importance.
Let me encourage you not to fear a solid understanding of a thing. Clarity is good so that we have knowledge about why we are doing it, or why we should abstain from doing a thing.
I grew up under the, because I said so, don’t question God, and do as I say not as I do teachings. These were not healthy doctrines.
Sometime later in my life, I came to understand that the reason many didn’t want to answer the “challenging” questions is that they had no answers.
And many had no answers because they did not read, research, or study the Word of God and His Truth For themselves. Many settled on the word of man alone.
Our Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers are given to us and ordained/called by God. However, these are not substitutes for knowing God and His Holy Word for yourself.
As I always say, “Read Your Bible People.” (insert LOL emoji) however the lack of knowledge is no laughing matter.

While there are pages and pages of information and multiple articles on the origin of Halloween, while studying and doing research for this post, I found sadly that as a Kingdom Believer I did not know many of the things that I came upon regarding Halloween.
Although I knew it was not a day that I should be celebrating even though I celebrated with my kids in the past.
I learned that not only was I celebrating a day that gave no glory to God, but also a day that has the potential to open up demonic portals that I absolutely do not want to contend with in my life or that of my children.
In English countries, the origin of Halloween in Christianity comes primarily from the Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). Dia de Los Muertos is the celebration of the day of the dead.
Halloween is celebrated beyond October 31st and is actually a three-day event concluding on November 2nd. There is a day during the three days recognized for All Saints Day, which is also named in articles of Christian solemnity. and one day recognized for Day of the Dead.
Halloween first gained popularity in the US in the 1800s with the European Americans, then with the Irish-Americans. and was made more popular since the 1930s, rooted heavily in Christianity.
This same trickery is happening today in different areas and we as Christians must have a Kingdom focus and not be led astray by the enemy and his plans to kill, steal and destroy.
You can learn more at the websites below, please pray and use caution if you choose to review these websites or others. I am not endorsing either website, but the information shared sums up the many articles that I read and that were far more dark and detailed.
Please use wisdom in your research and reading on the truth of Halloween. If you do not have wisdom, the bible says that you can ask God for it. James 1:5.

2. You can be free seek the Truth
I am a Truthseeker. If you read this blog post one year ago or anytime, before this yearly update (and remember what you read) you will note that I have done some deeper digging and truth-seeking.
This time around I am including testimony and some quotes from those who know way more about Halloween, its roots, and what it really means to the dark and occult world than my research could ever reveal to me. (And I have researched a lot!)
As I seek the truth, I hope that you will do the same this blog post is just a piece or an introduction to the truth about celebrating Halloween.
An Ex-witch shares her Testimony of Jesus Christ’s deliverance from Wiccan and witchcraft practices.
Take a listen to this Podcast of a woman that (I have listened to on Youtube) shares her testimony of being a Wiccan and witch, before finding true deliverance from Jesus Christ. You can learn more about her story here.

Is celebrating Halloween a sin?
The celebration of Halloween or its other known names, (hallow eve, day of the dead, day of the devil, etc) is not one of the commandments and there is nothing that I have read or learned regarding, Halloween being a flat out sin.
However, let’s test the spirit by the spirit. 1 John 4:1 and 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21.
Does what you deem okay to do (celebrate Halloween) line up when stacked with the Biblical scripture.
My family and I no longer celebrate (we haven’t in several years now) or participate in any Halloween activities.
Nor do we celebrate any nights designed as makeshift or innocent gatherings pertaining to Halloween. The bible tells us in James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
We are told to resist the devil. It would be in direct disobedience to go and play tag on a day that is literally dedicated to witches, warlocks, sorcery (more on this later), and divination.
It’s like sticking your hand in a fire pit and seeing how many times you can dodge the jumping flames before you actually get burned. That game is no fun and a waste of time to play.
True, this can be stated about a lot of things in our day-to-day lives as Christians.
Why some Christians Celebrate Halloween
Some Christians celebrate Halloween because they deem that Halloween is just an innocent day or just another day of candy and dress-up. The truth is to celebrating Halloween is a compromise and contrary to God’s Holy Word.
In my research, I have read blog posts, the comment section of these blog posts, broken down the origin and history of where Halloween started.
Then I read that many want to negotiate in favor of continuing to celebrate and take part in a day that is exclusively and historically set up to trick you into believing that what is evil is good.
I am left asking God how can my blog and social media posts make a difference?
If this has made you feel triggered or irritated or provoked in any way. Seek to understand why those feelings rose up in you.
This is one way that habitual sin creeps into our everyday lives. it allows us to be amiss to other “it’s just” types of situations in our daily lives.
Take a moment and think about just one or two things that you let slide in you day to day, because it’s just one time, it’s just how it’s done. Halloween is just one example of compromise that some Christian Believers make. For some, it is just an unknowing or going along with what everyone else is doing.
For others, it is a complete and total dismissal of God’s word. You sacrifice what you want…worldly pleasures and worldly comfort. But God wants our obedience. Matthew 16:24.

3. Christians can choose
Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Regardless of your reason(s) for celebrating Halloween as a Christ Believer, or someone seeking to know more about the true and living God.
The Bible tells us in Hebrews 10:26, sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins.
The Bible also lets us know that we are no longer our own. Galatians 2:20 We were bought with a price and we should glorify God in our body and spirit because they both are God’s.
Galatians 5:19-21 provides some explicit and direct correspondence to the warning of participating in things like idolatry, sorcery, etc.
Sorcery by definition (according to Webster) is the use of power gained from the assistance or control of evil spirits especially for divining necromancy, magic sense.
If I were explaining this to a young child I would correlate Galatians 5:19-21 by saying, the Bible tells us that we have been warned [again] not to participate in sorcery and those that do will not inherit the Kingdom.
So, in short, no participation in sorcery which is a thing practiced on Halloween among others is not a good celebration according to the Word of God.
Deciding not to participate in Halloween also brings up the concept of turning evil into good. As Christians we can not simply take costumes and candy, Hallelujah nights at church, and Trunk or Treats and deem it okay.
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Isaiah 5:20
And while yes you are an adult and have the free will to make the decisions that you want for yourself. And I nor any Pastors, Leader, or other figureheads in your life can make the decision for you regarding your participation in Halloween. The goal remains that you seek the truth for yourself.
Just as myself and others have had to do as well.
Other types of occult and witchcraft practices
A form of occult practice that has been around but is growing increasingly popular, is also called necromancy. Or talking to your dead ancestors or recently lost loved ones.
My story
a little over 6 years ago, I had a baby boy. Our son lived for 8 days and some months after he passed, a being appeared to me in a very realistic form-body and clothing. I saw this being a couple of times after our son’s death.
It appeared as a faceless toddler holding a teddy bear. I was clear then and remain clear now that it was not our son but a spirit that was operating illegally on Earth. At the time I didn’t know nearly as much as I do now about witchcraft or the occult world.
But I had enough of the power of God inside of me to know immediately that what I was seeing just needed me to interact with it. And why wouldn’t I? After all our son had been taken from us we were a heartbroken and still heavily grieving family.
I knew and understood enough of how the enemy likes to work and target us with our low-hanging fruit.
And yes all things were true, as a family, we were grieving. The unimaginable-the worst possible situation had happened to us. A mother and father had to bury their child.
I wanted nothing more for days, weeks, months, and years than to hold my newborn son in my arms. To smell his hair and feel his skin. And the enemy knew all of this I’m sure.
But, because I wanted what God had for me more than I was willing to succumb to a solution for my grief from an outside source. And even though I hadn’t even begun to understand the why of losing a baby at 8 days old. I trusted that God had a plan to carry me through. I didn’t have to seek it anywhere else.
I did in fact denounce and send that familiar spirit away and it has never returned. I hadn’t actually thought about it recently until writing the update for this blog post.
Participating in other forms of witchcraft even those meant to ward off evil spirits.
The burning of sage. Many call this innocent siting that it is like incense-which was given to Jesus at His birth by the Wise men.
The gifting of incense to Jesus by the wise men was for the value of the gift. Unlinked to the use of burning sage today to get rid of evil spirits. These are not the same. Another example this time taking good and making it evil in its use and representation.
The word of God is clear on His position about calling evil good and good evil.
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Isaiah 5:20
This would conclude that something meant to invite, highlight and celebrate evil can not be interchangeably good.
And still, as with all things, God gives us the choice to choose life or death.
Deuteronomy 30:15-20 NKJV
15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees, and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
17 But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, 18 I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess.
19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
20 and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
But the Bible doesn’t say do not celebrate Halloween
In closing, the question you may have still, What does the bible say about Halloween specifically?
Although the Bible doesn’t explicitly say, “Do not celebrate Halloween,” we do have plenty of scripture about staying away from evil and things that our flesh can participate in that are sinful in nature.
Reflection:
Here are a few steps to assist you in denouncing and repenting your participation in Halloween. God can deliver you.
Pray and repent to God for any and all participation, the desire to participate in any part of the occult, Wiccan and witchcraft rituals the day of the dead, or Halloween in any form.
Right now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I stand with you against any strong pull that you may be feeling a pull, an urge or desire to buck, lunge or fight, or a feeling of your feet being planted in place. This is the spirit of rebellion I rebuke this spirit of rebellion, the spirits of idolatry the spirit of anxiety, and the spirit of depression that wants to stop you from letting every connection that you’ve ever had with Halloween and satan be cast down in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
If you are a celebrator of Halloween, or you personally know someone that is when are you willing to accept and share the truth that this is not a day that you want to be a contributor to?
Peer pressure from others can come with any age group. The ego of your mind that tells you that you are not doing anything wrong. Asking God to take pride out of your heart and give you wisdom and knowledge to tell your kids and family and anyone that you love you will no longer be participating in any part of celebrating Halloween.
Additional scriptures that you can study to gain more context about the dangers of celebrating Halloween as a Believer in Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 10:21, Ephesians 5:11, Ephesians 4:27, 1 Thessalonians 5:22, Romans 1 (the whole chapter).
